こんにちは。
この前の日曜日（9月7日）にTOEICリスニング/ライティングを初めて受験してきました。このテストは、TOEIC公開テストでは計れなかった英語の発信力を試すための試験として2007年12月から始まったのですが、試験料が高い（9975円）せいか、いまひとつ人気が出ていません。私もしばらく様子をみていたのですが、今回、iBTの勉強の一環をして挑戦してみることにしました。
今回は御茶ノ水の近くにある専門学校での受験を選択しました。予想はしていたのですが今回の受験者は私を含めて約15人程度でした。その中で驚いたのが、小学4、5年生ぐらいの女の子が受験者としてきていました。う〜む、あんなに若いのにTOEIC受験なんか受けさせられてかわいそうだな、なんて思いました。
それでは、試験の内容を報告します。この試験はスピーキング20分とライティング60分の合計80分で行なわれます。まず最初はスピーキングです。
(1)音読問題 2問
ここでは、与えられた短いpassageを音読します。45秒間で準備をして、45秒で朗読します。この準備時間はたっぷりあるので、リハーサルのつもりで一回練習して、残りの時間は固有名詞の発音を最終チェックするといいと思います。私はこのセクションで少し緊張していたのか、早く読みすぎてしまい。15秒以上あまらせてしまいました。どうだろうかな、ここの採点スケールは０〜３なので、2以上は取れて欲しいです。
（2）写真描写問題
ここでは、TOEIC PART1に出てくる写真一枚をみて、制限時間内（45秒）にできる限り描写する問題です。TOEICでは、聞いて理解するのですが、ここでは自ら描写しなければなりません。今回の写真はこんな感じでした。
Takeshi:
well.. There are some people on the sea shore.... I see an old couple walking, side by side.. towords the montains.. they are both.. bare foot... feet... they have thier shoes..in their hands... they seem to be enjoying... it is kinda cloudy...etc
どうでしょうかね。文法的にはもっと間違えていたかもしれません。
(３）応答問題
ここでは、電話でのリサーチに同意したと想定して応答に答えるという問題です。英語力だけではなく電話の応答として自然かどうかも採点の対象になります。今回の問題はVideo, DVDに関する調査に電話で答える設定です。(問題に答えるための準備時間はありません）
How many videos or DVDs did you watch in the pass three months?
Takeshi:
Mmm.. I don't remember how many, but I usually watch videos or DVDs one a month, so three I guess...
When or where do you usually watch them?
Takeshi:
I watch them at home... usually after work.
Which do you prefer, buying them or renting them?
Takeshi:
I prefer to rent them rather than buy them, because it is much cheaper, isn't it? Once I watch them, I don't watch them again. so it is wastful.. If you rent them, you can save a lot of money and you can spend the money on something else.
文法の間違えはもっとあったと思います。
（４）指示されて情報に基づく応答問題
ここでは、画面に表示される資料や文書をもとに電話で応答するという設定です。今回は、ホテルの朝食の申し込み用紙を見ながら、受験者がホテルの店員になって応答するという設定です。
a customer:
Let me confirm the reservation. What time did I book the breakfast? and what is the price of the meal I ordered?
Takeshi:
You booked the breakfast at 8 am, sir. and it is 17 dollars.
A customer:
Can I change the drink? from coffee to tomato joice?
Takeshi:
I'm sorry, sir, we can't do that.. we have only three selections, coffee, tea, and orange joice... sorry...
(5)解決策を提案する問題
ここでは、最初にリスニングをして問題理解して、解決案を提示するという問題です。リスニング力はもちろんのこと、想像力を豊かでなければなりません。今回は部下からの電話で「倉庫が狭くて、ごちゃごちゃしていて、発送の品をよく間違えてしまうので、何とかならないか」ということでした。
Takeshi:
Well, I understand the problem.. and I heard it from many people.. we have to do something..mmm. how about using one next to the main office...it is now available.. and much bigger..also there are some cabinets and bookshelf.. If we use that room, we can put things like files...or something like that....in order.. etc
(6)意見を述べる問題
ここは、TOEFL ibtスピーキングセクション２とまったく同じで、与えられたテーマに関して1分間のスピーチを行ないます。今回のトピックは
Which do you prefer, using cash or using credit cards?みたいなものでした。
Takeshi.
I prefer to use credit card rather than to use cash. There are two reasons for this. First, if you use a credit card, you don't have to carry a lot of coins or bills. also when you mmmmm (財布を落とすがとっさにでてこなくで、頭が真っ白になる）well... drop your wallet, it is no problem, you don't lose any money. Second, you can keep the track of what you have bought. If you use cash, you never know how much you spend,but if you use a credit card, you can see the track of what you spend.. so it is good..(お金をいくら使ったかわからないのはクレジットカードのほうですよね。矛盾していると思いながらももう後には引けないので話を続けました）For these reasons I prefre to use a credit card rather than to use cash, thank you.
どうでしょうかね。20分のテストはあっという間に終ってしまいました。
