Recordings (Stella, and Bento Box) (親記事) - Takeshi

Hi, everybody.

How are you getting along? I myself try to study as hard as possible, since the test season has set in, but I've been pretty lazy as usual, and everyday regret not having studied hard. BTW, let me show you new recordings I made the other day. Those are first reading materials I used when I started the training at the begining of last year, and this time I made some corretion, because I was told that I made so many mistakes in them. I still sound very Katakana-like, but I'll keep working hard, and want to sound ok as a non-native speaker.

In this recording above, I read out the text very slowly and carefully. Being a typical Japanese learner myself, I'm terrible at "l"s and "r"s, so in the last reacording, I sounded like "sterra" or "flog." Also I was told that my "snow" was like "s+now" (the vowel should be a diphthon /ou/, not a schwa that I used before), and that made me sounded so Japanese. I hope I sound ok with these words, but sadly, the prosody got worse because I only focus on the articulation.

I think the prosody is better than before, but still there are obviously weird sounds in this bento recording. First of all, I think the vowel of the first "lunch" was a little too long, and it sounds more like "launch." Also, some function words, expecialy "them" in "take them", "love them" or "eat them" are so strong that they sound as strong as the content words followed, which made me totally sound Katakana. The last phrase, "train trip" should also be "TRAIN trip" not "train TRIP"

For your reference, I'll show you other recordings done by someone else with the same materials. He is Temma-sensei, a TOEIC teacher, from Osaka. Compared with his, now you can see how much I sound like Katakana.

Another recording (Ls and Rs) (No.1772への返信 / 1階層) - Takeshi

Hi everyone.

I'm writing, once again, to show you another recording. Before that, do you know what "plospelity" means in English? Any idea? This is what exactly I sound in this recording. As I'm typical Japanese, my accent is awful, but when it comes to "ls and rs", my English is somtimes incomprehensive. I think I also sound there like "ploblem", "culentry", and "peopre" as well (I hope those manage to be understanble though). I think it's gonna take a looog time to make it sound ok as a non-native speaker. I'll still contiune to work hard on it.

Note: as usual, I sound really weird when I say /pju/ sound in "population" there, just like I can't pronounce /byu/ in "vocabulary" right. Also, the "short shortages" sounds sort of like "short cheese" And the "percent" sounds total Japanese.
